Don't Hate the Bicyclist, Change the System

Communities Solution by Fitri C on September 2, 2012 at 12:36 AM

Traffic at Arizona State University has become a relevant issue. With numerous types of transportation in a congested area, students and staff often fall victim in accidents between bicyclists and pedestrians. In order to better regulate traffic as well as prevent collisions, Fitri Cortes and Elizabeth Perry propose that ASU creates lanes specific to bicycles, boards, and people.

I like the idea, and I would like to raise some questions. How would you design these lanes ? How would you find the funds for the color(neon) ? Who would you talk to, in order for this change to happen? I hope this helped. Good luck :)

I agree completely. I witnessed a crash once, a guy on a skateboard and a girl on a bike, and it was horrible with blood everywhere (probably because the head bleeds a lot). I think there needs to be a system where the campus can be shared equally and safely by everyone.

I hate when I am on my bike and i end up having to walk it! >.< Preach it ladies!
